Hallowed Stones Vineyard is a surreal landscape. This specific area that’s located on the south end of the Walla Walla Valley, on the Oregon side is the only AVA that’s boundary is determined by its soil type. The rocky terrain is only otherwise found in France’s Rhone Valley region of Chateaunuf-du-pape. The earth is covered in baseball size basalt cobbles that radiate heat from the ground up to the vine canopy. The soil drains extremely well which encourages the root system to extend deep into the earth.
